More than a
book store
The Book Table’s story began in 1933 with a woman, a sack of books, and a simple card table. She traveled to school book fairs, sharing her love of reading, and from that humble setup, The Book Table was born. Eventually, she opened a small bookstore at 36 West Center Street in Logan, UT. In 1974, local entrepreneur Gene Needham took ownership, moving the store to North Main Street and expanding its offerings beyond books to include video rentals and cassette tapes.
A Logan landmark since 1986—step
inside and discover something new!
In 1986, The Book Table moved to its current home at 29 South Main Street, inside the historic Keith O’Brien building. Over the years, the store continued to grow, adding a second floor that now houses toys, educational materials, and scrapbooking supplies. The music department flourished, eventually including stringed instruments, pianos, band instruments, and Utah’s largest sheet music selection by individual title. A Concert Hall was introduced, offering a space for live performances, and the basement was transformed into a School of Music, bringing even more creativity and culture to the community.
Today, The Book Table stands as one of the few remaining independent bookstores in the U.S., serving not just Cache Valley but visitors from around the world. While the industry has changed, The Book Table remains a beloved local destination, filled with stories, creativity, and discovery at every turn.
